Both Huck and Jim had a pretty good reason to escape but, Huck's escape is definetly more exciting than Jim's.
Huck had to work his way out, where as Jim just had to leave the house. Both of them were scared. Considering that you that as soon as your pap gets home its time for a whippin' or that pretty soon you are going to be sold again.
This shows that both escapes were different in some ways and similair in others.

Cross post
I agree with you, Eli, that Huck is like a boy scout. However, he does not have all of a boy scout's characteristics. He definetly isn't clean, but he is sort of reverant. He isn't always trustworthy though, but definently he is smart.
To go through the steps of planning his escape is pretty amazing, escpecially since he came up with the plan. It is funny that he would even kill a pig and sprinkle the blood on the floor to make Pap think he was murdered. He can at least survive.

Alex's B-day
Went to Alex's B-day party yesterday and had a lot of fun. We went to the pool and it was freezing. I got right back out after i got in. Bbrrrrr!
Literature
Huck really is a brave boy. Considering that he ran away from his father and stayed on an island all by himself. I really feel sad though for Tom Sawyer and the widow. They think he's dead and i am sure that Tom is devastated at the 'so thought' death of his friend. Not really any feelings for Pap because of the way he treated Huck.
Hopefully Huck will have enough sense to not believe or be influenced by Jim and I think that he should leave Jackson's island without Jim.
We shouldn't believe people who believe in witchcraft and such.

Literature: thoughts on Freedom
I think that everyone is meant to be free, even African Americans. Back then people didn't really care until they realized that all men are created equal. It is dissapointing to me to know that some of the greatest Americans, such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson believed in slavery. The word Nigger isn't a very respectful name for a Black person. Blacks were looked down upon for the longest time. Now people know that all men are created equal.
