So, in To Kill a Mockingbird Scout's teacher, (Miss Caroline Fisher) was an outsider. She came from a different county, so she didn't know the ways of the people of Maycomb.
Like for instance, the Ewell's only went to school on the first day. So when Burris Ewell told Miss Caroline, she didn't seem happy about it. You see the Ewell's were a special family. Their father was allowed to hunt and trap out of season because they were so poor, and the government didn't mind if the children only went to school on the first day. But Miss Caroline didn't know that.
Maycomb was different from most counties. Miss Caroline must have come from a pretty civilized one.
